No. Since 1995 physiotherapists were granted direct access in Alberta. It means that you do not need a doctor’s referral to attend physiotherapy. Physiotherapists are highly skilled professionals who have expertise in assessment and treatment of soft tissue injuries and biomechanical dysfunction. If you have a doctor’s referral, please bring it with you on your first visit. Some insurance companies may require and doctor’s referral.
